Testing the recovery of damaged Word documents using various programs and online services: a real-world analysis of effectiveness
Recovery Toolbox conducts large-scale comparative testing of the real-world effectiveness of various programs and services designed to recover damaged Microsoft Office Word documents on a quarterly basis. Such tests allow us to improve the quality of data recovery from damaged Microsoft Word and Rich Text documents. For such testing, real user files are used, which users of the online service upload to the cloud service for recovering Word documents: https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/.
Such tests are conducted quarterly. Each test uses 1,000 user files of different formats, versions, with different extensions (.docx, .doc, .rtf, .dotx, .dot), with different encodings and different file sizes. Real users upload their Word documents in different formats and different versions of Word files. File damage always takes on a variety of unpredictable forms, which makes the recovery task difficult but realistic.
Selection of files for testing Word document recovery
Word files do not undergo any filtering, selection, or sorting. Everything uploaded in the days leading up to the test is included in the test. The set of test damaged Word documents includes files with varying degrees of damage. All text files have different formats, versions, extensions, and sizes. Password-protected files were not excluded from the tests.
Both special utilities and online recovery services were used in the testing. Among them:
- Recovery Toolbox for Word https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/
- Recovery Toolbox online service https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/
- Word Repair Kit + OnlineFile.Repair https://www.onlinefile.repair/rtf
- OnlineFileRepair.com https://onlinefilerepair.com/word
- SecureRecovery® for Word
- DataNumen Word Repair
The same set of test damaged files was run through each service or utility. This provides a realistic comparison of which utilities or services are better at recovering data, preserving document structure, and correctly restoring text, graphics, formatting, layout, tables, and other elements of a Word document.
The recovery quality was assessed based on the following factors:
- Was it possible to open the recovered Word document?
- Was the document structure preserved?
- Was the document formatting preserved?
- Was the document layout preserved?
- How well were the text and graphic elements recovered?
- Were there any problems with text encoding?
- Are there any damaged areas?
- Are there any distortions in the document?
Based on all of these factors, a conclusion is made as to whether the Word document has been recovered or not.
Results of a real comparative test of Word document recovery
The data obtained is processed and compiled into a comparative table. The table shows how successfully each utility or service coped with the task at hand. The final table allows us to draw conclusions about the quality of a particular program or online service depending on the degree of damage to the Word file and its complexity. Below is a summary table after the test.
| Service or program | % of Word files successfully recovered | Price for recovering 1 file | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online service Recovery Toolbox https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ | ~52% | $10 per 1 GB | Universal utility for all devices and systems |
| Recovery Toolbox for Word | ~51% | $25 | Windows only |

Frequently Asked Questions Word Repair Online
Recovering a DOCX File After a Power Outage in Word 2024 on Windows 11
How to recover a Word 2024 document from a USB drive after a sudden power outage?
Question:
I had an important .docx file on my USB drive that I was editing in Microsoft Word 2024 on a Windows 11 laptop when the power suddenly went out. After restarting Windows, the file remained on the USB drive, but Word no longer opens it and displays the message: The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions. Check the file permissions for the document or drive. Use the Open dialog box to locate the document. I copied the document from the USB drive to my local SSD and tried to open it via File → Open, but the error persisted. Is it possible to recover the contents of such a DOCX file using a browser without installing additional software?
Answer:
When the power was cut off, the write operation to the USB drive may have completed before Word had a chance to save all the internal structures of the DOCX file, so the file itself exists, but its contents are not read correctly. First, save a separate copy of the corrupted file and do not edit the original. Then open the online service https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/, select the corrupted .docx file, and start processing the file. The service analyzes the uploaded document regardless of whether Microsoft Word can open it. Once the recovery is complete, you can view the recovered data and download a demo file. Next, save the recovered data to a new .DOCX file and open it in Word 2024. For users looking for text recovery converter word online functionality, the same recovery process can be run from a laptop, phone, or tablet through a web browser without installing desktop recovery software.
Recovering a Word 2021 DOCX file after bad sectors appear on the disk
What to Do If Word 2021 Won't Open a DOCX File After SSD Drive Errors?
Question:
I was working on a contract in a .docx file in Microsoft Word 2021 on a desktop computer running Windows 10, after which the system began reporting SSD read errors. I managed to copy the file to another drive, but when I try to open it, the following message appears: Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges. I checked the file permissions and changed the owner to my Windows account, but Word 2021 still refuses to open the document. Could the error be related not to permissions, but to physical data corruption on the old SSD drive?
Answer:
This message does not always indicate an actual problem with access permissions: bad sectors may have altered part of the document's internal structure, causing Word to misinterpret the file's state. It's best to continue working only with a copy of the file, which you should transfer to a functional drive. If you are trying to determine how to recover word document data after SSD damage, upload this copy to the service https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ in any browser and run a document analysis. The online service attempts to extract readable data directly from the corrupted Word file, so changing NTFS permissions or reinstalling Office is not required for this procedure. After the analysis and recovery, download the recovered file in .DOCX format and check it from a healthy drive. If the original SSD continues to return read errors, do not save the recovered document back to it.
Recovering a Word 2019 DOC File After a Computer Has Been Infected with Malware
How to recover an old Word 2019 DOC file after a virus infection?
Question:
On my work computer running Windows 10, I opened an old .doc document in Microsoft Word 2019, after which my antivirus software detected several infected files in the same folder. After cleaning the system, the document I needed remained, but when I try to open it, Word displays the message: Word cannot open this document template. The file is a regular document, not a template, so the message seems strange. Is it possible to extract the text from the corrupted DOC file without reopening the file on the infected system?
Answer:
Malware or the subsequent cleanup of infected items may have altered individual bytes of the document, the file header, or associated metadata, causing Word to mistakenly identify a regular DOC file as a corrupted template. After scanning your computer, copy this file to a separate, secure location and do not manually change its file extension. To recover the document, open https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ in a browser on a verified device, upload the corrupted .doc file, and start the recovery process. Using an ms word text recovery converter online workflow, you can extract recoverable content without reopening the corrupted file in Microsoft Word on the affected computer. After the analysis, save the recovered content as a new .DOCX file named afqk. It is recommended that you run the new file through an antivirus scan before using it on your work computer.
Recovering a Word 2016 DOCX File After a OneDrive Sync Failure
How to recover a Word 2016 document corrupted during OneDrive synchronization?
Question:
I was editing a report in Microsoft Word 2016 on a Windows 10 laptop, and the Documents folder was automatically syncing with OneDrive. The internet connection dropped several times, after which a sync error icon appeared next to the file, and the local and cloud copies began to differ in size. Now Word displays: Word was unable to read the document. It may be corrupt. There is no recent version of the file in my OneDrive history—how can I try to recover the current corrupted file?
Answer:
During an incorrect OneDrive sync, an incomplete version of the DOCX file may have been saved, or some of the new content may have been written over the old document structure. First, download the corrupted cloud copy of the file separately and save the local version under a different name so you don't lose either version. For this type of OneDrive damage, a microsoft word text recovery converter workflow starts by uploading the largest or most recent copy to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/. Next, wait for the file analysis to complete. Save the result to a new .DOCX file, then compare its contents with the existing versions in OneDrive. Only after verifying the contents should you place the recovered document back into the synced folder.
Recovering a Word 2013 RTF File After a Dropbox Sync Conflict
How to recover a corrupted RTF file from Dropbox if Word 2013 no longer opens it?
Question:
I had a file named ProjectNotes.rtf that was being edited in Microsoft Word 2013 on a Windows 10 computer and simultaneously synced via Dropbox with another laptop. After the document was edited on both computers at the same time, Dropbox created a conflicting copy, and the main version stopped opening, displaying the error FileName.rtf file cannot be opened. I tried downloading the file from Dropbox again and opening it in WordPad, but the content isn't displayed. Is there a way to perform an online conversion to recover the Word text for this RTF file?
Answer:
When two versions of a file were written simultaneously, Dropbox may have retrieved the file while it was still being saved, which could have resulted in the RTF structure being incomplete or containing corrupted control sequences. Do not delete the conflicting Dropbox copy: sometimes different versions contain different saved parts of the document. If you searched how to repair corrupted word file online, start with the main corrupted version: go to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/, select the .rtf file, and upload it for analysis. You do not need to install Word 2013 on the device from which you are performing the recovery just to upload the file. After processing, save the recovered data to a new .DOCX file, open it in Word, and compare it with the conflicting copy. This approach is especially useful when standard programs can no longer correctly parse the RTF structure.
Recovering a Word 2010 Document After an iCloud Sync Error
How to recover a corrupted Word 2010 DOCX file stored in iCloud Drive?
Question:
I created an old .docx document in Microsoft Word 2010 on a Windows 7 computer, later moved it to iCloud Drive, and periodically opened it on my MacBook. After a failed sync, the file size changed, and when I tried to download it back to Windows, Word 2010 displayed the message 'The file is corrupted and cannot be opened.' The file won't open on a Mac either, so the problem is clearly within the document itself. How can I recover the Word file online without being tied to a specific operating system?
Answer:
If iCloud synced the document while it was still being saved or received an incomplete local copy, the internal data of the DOCX file may have become inconsistent. Download the corrupted file from iCloud Drive to your local device and back it up before proceeding. For corrupted word document recovery online, use any modern browser to go to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ and upload the .docx file. Once the analysis begins, the service will attempt to extract the available content, regardless of whether you're using Windows or macOS. Save the recovered document as a new .DOCX file, and leave the original file unchanged. After verifying the result, you can upload the new version back to iCloud under a different name.
Recovering a Word 2007 DOC File from a Corrupted Network Folder
How to recover a Word 2007 file after a connection to a network folder is lost?
Question:
At the office, I was editing a .doc file in Microsoft Word 2007 on a Windows 7 computer directly from a shared network folder. While saving, the connection to the server was lost, and after the network connection was restored, the document was saved with its original name, but Word displays the message Word document is corrupted. Copying the file to a local drive did not resolve the issue, and opening it normally in Word 2007 does not help. Is it possible to recover the data from this copy via the Internet?
Answer:
Saving a document directly over an unstable network connection is risky because the server may only receive part of the modified file. As a result, the DOC file's name and size are preserved, but certain structures within the document end up incomplete. Copy the corrupted .doc file from the network folder to your local drive so that further attempts do not depend on the connection to the server. The word recovery converter online process starts by uploading the local copy to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ and running the recovery analysis. After the analysis, download the recovered data as a new .DOCX file and use this file as your working version. It is advisable to keep the old, corrupted copy separately in case you need to run the analysis again.
Recovering a Word 2003 DOC File After a RAID Array Failure
What to Do with a Word 2003 Document After RAID Degradation and Emergency Disk Recovery?
Question:
The company's archived documents were stored on a RAID array, and after one of the disks failed, the controller operated in degraded mode for some time. One important .doc file, created in Microsoft Word 2003 and currently opened on a Windows 7 computer, copies without errors; however, when Word is launched, the message Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please tell Microsoft about the problem. Copying the file again from the restored RAID array yields the same result. How can I retrieve the information if this particular document is causing Word to crash?
Answer:
After a disk failure, a RAID array may return a file with corrupted blocks even when the file system allows it to be copied normally. If Word crashes only when opening this specific DOC file, repeatedly opening it dozens of times is usually pointless. If you searched how to repair word file online after a RAID failure, the practical next step is to save a separate copy and upload it for analysis to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/. Online processing does not require opening the corrupted document in the older Word 2003 and allows you to attempt to extract readable information from its structure. Save the recovered result to a new .DOCX file, then open it in a newer version of Word and check the contents. This also prevents you from returning the recovered document to the problematic RAID until the array diagnostics are complete.
Recovering a Word 2002 DOC File from a Faulty NAS
How to Recover a Word XP/2002 Document After NAS File System Errors?
Question:
A .doc document created in Microsoft Word 2002 on Windows XP has been stored on my home NAS for many years, and now I'm trying to open it on a laptop running Windows 10 using Word 2002 installed in the Legacy Mode. After several errors, the file on the NAS began to open with the warning: The document caused a serious error the last time it was opened. Would you like to continue opening it? If I choose to continue, Word freezes, so I copied the DOC file from the NAS to my laptop. Is it possible to repair this corrupted Word file using only this local copy?
Answer:
NAS errors, corrupted blocks, or an improperly terminated background file system check may have affected only part of the old DOC file, which is why Windows successfully copies it but Word cannot parse the contents correctly. Use the local copy and do not attempt recovery directly from network storage again. For online word file recovery, open https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/, select the corrupted .doc file, and start the recovery process. Once the recovery is complete, save the recovered data to a new .DOCX file. The new format is more convenient for opening the file in modern versions of Word, but it's best to save the corrupted DOC file separately as source material. This way, you can perform online Word recovery even if the older Word 2002 keeps freezing when reading the file.
Recovering an RTF File in Word 2000 After Improperly Ejecting a USB Drive
How to Recover a Word 2000 RTF File After Removing a USB Drive While Saving?
Question:
I found an old .rtf file that was originally edited in Microsoft Word 2000. I opened it on a Windows 7 computer directly from a USB flash drive. By mistake, the flash drive was removed while the document was being saved, after which the file became significantly larger than usual, and Word displays the message There is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation. There are several hundred gigabytes of free space on the system drive, and there is enough RAM, so the message clearly does not reflect the computer's actual status. Is it possible to recover the text from this RTF file?
Answer:
When an RTF file is corrupted, incorrect control structures or truncated blocks can cause Word to miscalculate the amount of data, resulting in a memory error message even when there is sufficient free space. First, copy the file completely from the USB drive to the internal hard drive and work only with the copy. For ms word file repair online, upload the .rtf file to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ instead of repeatedly trying to open it in Word 2000. The service will analyze the corrupted file and attempt to extract the available data; you can then save the result as a new .DOCX file. Check the recovered document separately, and only then create backup copies of it. It is advisable to stop using the USB drive itself as the sole storage location for important documents.
Recovering a Word for Microsoft 365 DOCX File After an RDP Session Disconnection
How to recover a DOCX file after an RDP session ends unexpectedly?
Question:
I was working via Remote Desktop on an office computer running Windows 11 and editing a large .docx file in Word for Microsoft 365. While saving, the RDP connection unexpectedly dropped, and after reconnecting, Word offered restored versions, but the most recent one won't open and displays the message This document may be corrupt. I need the file at home on my MacBook running macOS, so installing additional Windows programs isn't practical. How can I restore it using a browser?
Answer:
An RDP disconnection alone usually doesn't corrupt the file, but it may coincide with the remote computer freezing, Word being force-closed, or the document not being fully saved to disk. Copy the most recent corrupted DOCX file from the remote computer without overwriting it with an older version. A search for document recovery word can lead to the same browser-based workflow: on a MacBook, open https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ and upload the file you obtained. After processing, download the recovered document in .DOCX format and open it in Word for Microsoft 365 on macOS. This way, the recovery process itself is not dependent on the fact that the original Word was running within a Windows RDP session. If additional AutoRecover copies remain, you should keep them as well until you've verified the result.
Recovering a DOCX File After a Windows and Word for Microsoft 365 Update
What to Do If a DOCX File Won't Open After a Windows Update?
Question:
Last night, Windows updates were installed on my laptop running Windows 11 and Word for Microsoft 365, after which the computer automatically restarted. This morning, one .docx file that had been open before the update stopped loading and displays the message The file appears to be corrupted . I sent the document to my iPad running iOS and tried to open it in the mobile version of Word, but the file won't open there either. Does this mean that the DOCX file itself is corrupted, and can it be recovered directly from the tablet?
Answer:
If the document was open or being saved at the time of the automatic restart, the last change may not have been fully saved, so the problem may persist regardless of the device on which the file is opened later. Do not replace the original DOCX file with an automatically created blank or older copy. If you searched how to recover word file corrupted after a Windows update, you can use an iPad to open https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/, select the corrupted document, and submit it for analysis and recovery. Once the recovery is complete, save the resulting .DOCX file to Files, OneDrive, or another storage location available to you, and check it in Word. This approach is suitable for online repair of MS Word files when a full-featured Windows computer isn't available. If the AutoRecover folder remains on your laptop, it's also worth checking its contents separately.
Recovering an RTF File After Running CHKDSK from an Android Phone
How to recover an RTF file damaged after repairing the file system with the CHKDSK command?
Question:
There was an .rtf file on an external drive that was created in Microsoft Word 2024 on a computer running Windows 11, but after some file system errors on the drive, Windows suggested checking the drive using the CHKDSK utility. After the errors were fixed, the document remained in place, but Word displays the message The file is corrupt and cannot be opened. The computer is currently unavailable, but I have the corrupted file saved on my Android 15 smartphone. Is it possible to perform an online conversion to recover the MS Word text directly from my phone?
Answer:
The CHKDSK utility is primarily designed to repair the file system structure, not the internal content of documents. Therefore, after repairing file paths and directories, an individual file may remain logically corrupted. Do not rename the RTF file to a DOCX file, and do not attempt to manually edit its contents using a text editor before creating a backup copy. On Android, open https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/ in your browser, select the saved .rtf file, and run the scan. After the analysis and processing, download the recovered data in .DOCX format and save it under a new name. You can then open the document in the mobile version of Word or transfer it to Windows, macOS, or another device. This browser-based process lets you recover word online from an Android phone without access to the computer where the error originally occurred.
Recovering a Word 2019 DOC File After Antivirus Intervention
How to recover a Word document after it has been blocked and scanned by antivirus software?
Question:
On a Windows 10 computer, I was editing an old .doc file in Microsoft Word 2019 when my antivirus software started a background scan of the folder and temporarily blocked access to the document. After restarting, Word could no longer recognize the file properly, and when I try to open it, I get the error The Document Template Is Not Valid. I restored the document from the antivirus quarantine, but the error persists even on another computer. What can I do if the file exists but Word considers it an invalid template?
Answer:
If the antivirus interrupted the save operation, moved the file to quarantine during saving, or did not fully restore it, the internal data of the old DOC file may have been corrupted. In this case, the template error may be the result of the file structure being read incorrectly, rather than an indication that the document is actually a template. If you need to know how to recover word document content after antivirus quarantine, create a copy of the recovered file and upload it to https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/. Run a document analysis, wait for the process to complete, and save the recovered information to a new .DOCX file. Afterward, check the new file in Word 2019 and rescan it using security tools. Do not replace the original DOC file with the recovered file until you are certain that the desired text has indeed been retrieved.
Recovering a Word 2021 DOCX File After File System Index Corruption
How to Recover a DOCX File After Windows 11 File System Index Errors?
Question:
I was working with a large .docx file in Microsoft Word 2021 on my Windows 11 laptop, after which the system began detecting file system index errors on the NTFS partition. After the automatic repair, the drive is working normally again, but this specific Word document will no longer open and displays the message A file error has occurred. A copy of the file transfers to another computer without any errors, but the result is the same in both Word 2021 and Word for Microsoft 365. Is there a practical way to recover corrupted Word documents online if the problem is already within the DOCX file itself?
Answer:
Repairing NTFS indexes can restore the file system to a consistent state, but it does not automatically restore the document's internal structure if some of its data has been lost or written incorrectly. Therefore, successfully copying a DOCX file to another drive ( ) does not necessarily mean that Word will be able to read it. Save a copy of the corrupted file separately and upload it to the cloud service https://word.recoverytoolbox.com/online/. Once processing begins, the service analyzes the original document and generates a recovered version, which you should save as a new .DOCX file. Open the recovered file in Word 2021 and carefully review the restored content before editing it further. This approach lets you recover word online while keeping the original corrupted DOCX file unchanged.

Customer's reviews and ratings:
The program is very good, I'm satisfied.
Good
Extraordinary. Thank you so much for your service. Eternally grateful.
Good website for fulfilling its purpose
Thank you so much for restoring the file! It's not exactly the original version, but a huge amount of work has been saved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
They restored the *.doc file very quickly and efficiently. Thank you very much.
best to use great app
The problem was that after the 4th page the document could not be viewed further, although there were still 14 pages.
The restored file unfortunately did not restore the document in the desired form - tables, footnotes, etc.
But at least we managed to restore the literature in the file, for which a HUGE THANK YOU - no need to select it again.
There was great hope for help in restoring "word", but alas.... They said that they are not GODS. It is a pity that the declared possibilities do not match the real ones....
ok
Excellent application!!!
HELPED A LOT
Working really good!
Optimal
Süper uygulama!!!
it is good
The files were on a flash drive, which I used frequently. On November 6, I transferred them onto my laptop to work. When I tried opening them, the files were corrupted.
My only guess is that somehow, they got scrambled during the transfer.
good app
The recovery of my file was mistaken, but then I received a full refund. I’m grateful for the gesture!
I had been working for weeks on an important academic conference paper when the file became corrupted. I tried everything I could repair it, recover the text, etc. but to no avail. I had almost given up hope when I found Recovery Toolbox. I am SO relieved that it worked!! You literally gave me back days of my life!!
The file was recovered successfully. But as soon as I put it back in Google Drive, the problem starts again, it opens it but impossible to work in the file ... I don't know whether Google or Word corrupted the file ... There's a glitch somewhere. Rather complicated story for me. The SupportNex technicians threw in the towel.
This Word document is created with Microsoft Word for Mac application.
My wife has worked with this periodically through the last 8 years. The file has been stored directly on OneDive.
It has worked pretty well. We have replaced the Mac laptop once in this period and we had no issue continuing working with the same file.
What happened suddenly. I guess it was Saturday 06. April. My wife complained to me while trying to open the file that had worked fine the day before, and suddenly came up with a message saying the file was unreadable.
This message popped up while trying to open the file: (Copied from web. The one on my Mac looked the same)
We tried Yes and No but nothing happened.
I have always felt that the file was safe on the cloud drive. But I see now that we cannot..
I did some research on the web and found out that Word has an open and repair function. But with no luck either.
I also found out that it should be possible to open a previous version of the file in the file property. It showed that it should be possible to go back to a previously saved version from Mach 1.
This function didn't work either.
After this I researched the web for different Word repair tools. I Found Recovery Toolbox, which many people claimed was the best and I bought this software..
It did find many pictures in the file for me which is fine, but no text.
I am mostly interested in the text as I have backups of all my pictures.
User was working on this legal brief on her up to date mac with word which was fully updated. Saved throughout the day. Seemed fine. Then when checked it the next day was corrupt.
Software helps to user.

The external HDD has failed. The data on it has become corrupted. A friend got them out with the help of the Wondershare Repairit program, and now I'm trying to recover Word files with help of this sw.
Dear Recovery Toolbox Developers Team,
First of all, thank you for creating the recovery Toolbox. It worked wonders.
I am not quite sure what exactly happened. While I included several images into the word document, word broke down and asked me to save my file. After reloading word and opening my document, an error notification popped up and I was not able to access my document anymore. That’s when I panicked, searched the internet for help and found the Recovery toolbox. All of my work (written text, graphs, images) was recovered. So a big thanks to you.
Kind regards,
There was problem with flash drive.
Several files was corrupted, and I figured out, that your program recovers other files also
Yes, thank you. I was making editorial corrections to a yoga script and hit the update key in upper left corner to file all changes. Then I went to close the file and the computer locked up and was several minutes before it became Unfrozen. When I tried to close the open file, the error notices started. That is when I located your product and tried to salvage the file.
The files were all on a flash drive, and that flash drive somehow got corrupted. Out of the 500 or so word docs, powerpoints, and pdfs, almost 200 were corrupted. The PowerPoints seem mostly okay, no luck on any of the pdfs, and the word documents were hit and miss, sometimes I got most of the text, other times it wouldn't even open.
As free service it is good. But I can pay $10 only for corrupted files.
This program saved many hours worth of work. Being able to download and test the file made the purchase decision easy to make. Great product, easy to use.
The demo version of the program did not find data in my Word 2007 document. It was recovered from a formatted flashcard. Is it possible to repair? File size 17kb.
The formatted document was corrected by online services. Honestly, the quality is 4
Instead of a recently modified document, I got the previous saved version (Word Office 2003, .doc). I will give 4 stars, since it is not clear whose mistake: either MS Word could not save, or the program did not fully repair.
Recovery Tool box for Word was able to recover text with images. Some pictures had to be moved manually as they were on top of the text.
I was sure that the utility would be able to 100% recover my damaged document, since it contained only text and images. But I received only 80% of the recovered document, if you count in 356 pages out of 400. If you have a problem with encoding, then the program makes Word documents readable without loss
Fixed wrong encoding of .doc file in MS Word 2007.
I used this program to repair a damaged Microsoft Word 2007 file. During the fix, the text on the second page was restored without formatting, on all the rest it retained its style.
MS Office 2007 does not read the content of the document because it was damaged due to improper use of the flash drive. The document was repaired well, if you do not take into account the formatting of text and tables.
After I cracked the password of a Word 2007 document and saved it on top of the current document, it started showing the error "A file error has occurred" and stopped opening the file. After restoring the .DOC file, I noticed that the text was restored completely, but without formatting.
Good!!!
When opening a document in MS Office Word, the program cannot find out the encoding of the file. I tried to sort through the available encoding options, but it did not help. An unreadable encoding file was fixed using the software, but since the file was in Turkish, some characters were replaced with Cyrillic.
I was able to recover a Word file with errors. The recovered .RTF file, after the online fixing, had to be edited, since in some places the spaces between the words were large and in some words there were hieroglyphs (maybe because the document was in Turkish). Text restored at 90%
This is very helpful.
I lost some important data on the word doc and made several manual attempt but was unsuccessful.
This online doc recovery toolbox helped me recover my original document.
Thanks a lot.

Good
thanks a lot
I used the services of the company, online, just two days ago. Even with using a new SDD external harddisk, with one day before the deadline to submit some papers, suddenly, I couldn't open the documents, because they were "corrupted". I really panicked and I found this company on the web. As the price was fairly low (even for an SE Europe scientist, as I am), I submitted one document, just to try. The answer came fast. It was, let's say, 90% saved (the images were missing but this was not a problem). Immediately I submitted the second and most important document, an article. I was very upset because I worked several months for it (my mistake, not to save it on the main computer, at least each second week). I got the recovered document, with an absolutely perfect content. Even now, I am still astonished how well the document was recovered (only the fonts and some formatting were different). Thanks again, Prof.Dr. Corina Ionescu- Babes-Bolyai University, Geology Department, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
I used the software to recover 2 documents, only half the info was restored. Better than nothing.
IS COOL
Tool can recover all text.
But images and tables was not repaired.
Best of the Word doc recovery tried (not saying much). Recovered a partial version of a file, but it was a version several saves prior.
